hi there,...
i just got this note recently from my friend john cameron mitchell, his new movie 'shortbus' is out... see it pass the word... you won't be disapointed...lots of sex too...
here is his note w/ links...

hey all, jcm here, just wanted to give you a "Shortbus" heads-up (sorry if
you get more than one of these). We've been doing a lot of work this summer
getting trailers, posters, etc, together for our imminent and full release by
the fantastic Thinkfilm.

The Theatrical (censored) Trailer and the new Uncensored Trailer (woo hoo!)
are now up on _www.shortbusthemovie.com_ (www.shortbusthemovie.com/)
(full site with bells and whistles coming soon courtesy of Crew Creative and
Sean Belman). You can also find all trailers on _www.ifilm.com_
(www.ifilm.com/) . I'd love if anyone and everyone could spread this information
around on your email lists or post it in chat rooms, blogs, myspace, bathroom
walls (hey, that's an idea, with a rubber stamp made of a potato!). We need
all the help we can get since we're such a little tiny movie.

Interesting dates:

Sept 10 - North American Premiere, Toronto Film Festival, - followed by a
big concert party (see our site for tickets).
Oct. 4 - New York release at the Landmark Sunshine
Oct 6 - LA and SF release
Oct. 12 Wash DC / Reel Affermations opening nite
Oct. 13 through Nov - we expand across N. America

Come opening weekend cause that means we stay in the theaters longer!

Our soundtrack will come out in late October. We're thrilled to be released
by Team Love which is run by Nate Krenkel and Conor Oberst of the band Bright
Eyes. They're the love-liest!

Thanks to all. It's going great, jcm

afterwards jeff and i managed to have a talk with mike potter, who is absolutely charming. i felt very comfortable with him, so i managed to join in the conversation and had a wonderful time. everyone involved with that film is lovely!

Hello! I recently watched Hedwig and I love it so much. I love to analyze it. I really touched me in a lot of ways, I would love for others to tell me how it's touched them.
The movie to me is so tragic and so beautiful. It's horrible that Hedwig tries to live in the world as she is, but is met with so much ugliness from the boy she really loves- Tommy. And from the rest of the world. I also love her attitude, how she's just so strong and so funny and so honest.
I was wondering what ya'll think of the ending? I take it like this: Hedwig has done much exploring of her feminine side, but has denyed her masculine side. At the end, she becomes a man on stage, and shows the world her other side. The world does not react well towards her for this, but it doesn't matter, because within her, she has become a more complete being, embracing both feminine and masculine, which she tried to deny. Also, when she finds Tommy at the end and looks face to face with him, they look very similiar. It's as though Tommy is an external manifestation of who Hedwig was inside, but didn't want to express, because he felt more like a woman. But once he would embrace and realize this, he became a whole being, and thus the tatoo was completed- he found his other half within himself.
The ending is highly ambiguous however, and I was wondering if other have a similiar interpretation? I was very moved at the movie's courage to deal with gender and sexuality issues in a way I've never seen it done before- exploring it from all sides and normalizing it, not making it seem "weird" or "taboo." It's a really beautiful movie and the love story always kills me. It's really fucking sad.
Tell me what you think!

Wonderful people and very talented but just people. IF you really want to know about Hedwig then go to http://www.thestagingarea.com/hedwig/index.html
That is where it all started. That is where the people of Hedwig became who they are. I am known as Hedmom. At least on the west coast. There is a message board there that will tell you all you could ever want to know about the real Hedwig. Not the one on the movie. The real one.
I realize you are all very young. But oh please...don't ask each other, ask the source. go to the web site, check it out. The man was kind enought to bring it back after the closeing of the show. The least you could do is visit and thank him. If you can't take the time to do that. Then do not call yourselves hed-heads. I know the original, I was there, I am the hedmom...do deal with it and go tell this man thanks. No more whining!!!

While watching Hedwig the other night, a friend suggested that the signature Hedwig hair style was copied (and exagerated) from Amanda Lear. He had recently played for me, and burned on my request, a CD of Amanda's "Follow me." I see some parallels between Hedwig and Amanda, and am wondering if anybody in this group has any thoughts about this. Amanda's "Follow Me" is a super scary trainwreck of an album. Weak disco tracks with ghostly vocals obliquely referencing her transexuality, adding up to a compelling work of art. Love Maxwell
